Digital Radiographs

Radiographs, or x-rays, are a common tool used to help diagnose potential issues your pet may be experiencing. X-rays allow your veterinarian to see your pet’s organs and bones to visualize any internal issues. Our office has an in-house state of the art digital x-ray unit that allows us to examine your pet’s bones, abdomen, oral cavity, lungs, and heart in a matter of minutes. Since our pets can’t tell us what is bothering them, x-rays are a vital and commonly used tool for veterinarians to detect many acute and chronic ailments in our dogs and cats.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a non-invasive procedure that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce high quality images of your pet’s internal organs in real-time. While ultrasounds are famously used for pregnancy checks, in the veterinary field, they are more typically recommended after preliminary tests such as x-rays, or bloodwork may have revealed an underlying concern. Unlike x-rays that are static images, ultrasound gives us a live view and direct assessment of individual tissue architecture. This allows for a deeper appreciation and visualization of organ health. A typical ultrasound can be performed in about 30-40 minutes, and generally only requires light sedation. Ultrasound has greatly advanced our ability to diagnose a pet in a pain free manner and without surgical risks. Meyerland Animal Clinic is proud to have our very own in house ultrasonographers to provide this crucial and often time sensitive procedure. Dr. Christina White, leads the team, having completed the nationally recognized advanced WAVE ultrasound certificate program.

Endoscopy

Endoscopy is a noninvasive procedure used to examine your pets’ digestive tract. Using an endoscope, a flexible tube with a light and camera attached to it, your doctor can view a live streaming video of your pets’ digestive tract on a color TV monitor. This high tech tool allows your doctor to diagnose and treat diseases of the esophagus, stomach, and upper part of the small intestines without an invasive surgical procedure. This allows for a speedy recovery for your pet!
